Amber Adler.
Amber halted in her steps and turned to face him, there was a soft smile upon her lips and a thankful glint to her gaze. She didn’t truly want to brave the storm but she was the type of person who’d face a hurricane if she had to. Amber was strong, mostly because life made her that way and partially because of her undying loyalty to protect the students at the school. She’d offer her life for theirs in a heartbeat and every minute away from them was filled with anxiety and worry although she knew they were safer there than any other place.
“Thank you” she told him sincerely before feeling a comfortable shift of gold in her gaze and ran her fingers through the wet locks of auburn hair caressing her shoulders. “If it counts for anything, I’m not here to cause trouble”, there was innocent truth in her gaze. A subtle promise that she wasn’t going to hurt him like some of the more vengeful mutants that were out there. She would wait out the storm and leave him be before trouble found her. Amber’s head turned to the sounding knock and felt her chest rise in a quick inhale. She nodded at Corbin though and kept to her spot while she folded her arms over her chest with quiet curiosity as to who may be at the door.
She didn’t see his face before she heard his voice, it was unfamiliar and yet it left an awful distrust in it’s wake. There was something about him, something about his presence alone that made her skin crawl. Amber wasn’t sure if it was simple paranoia or something more but she simply didn’t feel comfortable upon seeing the stranger enter the house. Amber felt herself will her mutation into a hidden halt, careful not to draw attention to the golden flicker in her gaze or the shimmering depths of her abilities. She didn’t need to incite a witch hunt by simply being what she was.
Amber listened to their conversation with peaked interest, a shiver travelled the length of her spine in an uncomfortable touch as she met the gaze of the new dinner guest. She forced a smile, a stiff one at that and waved at Dylan. “Seems like we both had bad luck”, a quick collection of words with an almost ominous feel about them. Amber had no idea just how slimy the bastard was but she had an awful feeling brewing in her gut.
“I’m Amber”, a simple introduction. She glanced at Corbin wondering if he also had an eerie feeling about the whole thing. Still, she hardly knew him and deciphering the meaning in his gaze wasn’t an easy task. She was at a loss though, she didn’t know what to do when every fibre of her being ridiculed the idea of turning her back on Dylan. There was a fierceness in her gaze, something of a subtle glare as she glanced at Dylan. Amber seemed almost defensive as she kept her arms folded over her chest unknowing of what the night had in store for them.

Amber Adler.
Amber nodded softly and reached out to wrap her slender fingers knife and drew it closer to her. There was a loud rumble of thunder, enough to scare Amber in the slightest. She loved the storm but at times, the rumbling roars of thunder overhead had the ability to draw her into a small fright. Nevertheless, she hadn’t realized the natural flicker of golden energy as her body responded to the sudden instinct to guard herself. It wasn’t until she met his gaze and truly comprehended his words that she realized how she’d screwed up. Amber looked from Corbin to the knife and wondered if he thought her a monster or a threat so she gently reached out to set the knife down on the counter and cautiously stepped back with open palms.
“I’m pretty sure you don’t really need confirmation, do you?”, there was a slight challenge to her words. Something about being a mutant made her feel stronger and confidence radiated off her like her mutation normally would. It was unseen but very apparent all the same. Amber made sure to put enough space between them in case he was honestly fearful and foolish enough to try something that would get his ass kicked. Still, she wasn’t a violent person, or angry even but she wasn’t opposed to protecting herself.
“Do you need a minute?”, she asked with a hint of sarcasm at the ramblings of his unfinished sentence. She chuckled softly wondering if she’d confess the truth of what it felt like or mask it with words that carried no real meaning. It was empowering and addictive and wonderful to be a mutant but it was also terrifying and unpredictable with wars on her kind always ragging. She settled for something a little easier to comprehend, something that wasn’t weighed down by the passion of the truth. “It’s not as exciting as you might think”, a simple lie. It was endlessly exciting for her, she adores her kind but not to an extent that made her bitter or hateful towards his. Amber was truly in love with the potential of mutants, the beauty of their abilities.
Amber felt her mutation spark to life, not too much but enough so that her eyes were the natural gold that she so harshly tried to hide from Corbin. She found herself laughing softly at his words. “My gift is a little more complicated than that”, she didn’t know how to really explain that her body was born to absorb and transform energy to a form that she could manipulate or that she was hardened and enhanced by the constant flow of her energy that made her a warrior to fear. Nevertheless, she didn’t feel fearful or worrisome of Corbin’s intentions and found herself opening a soft palm. Energy balled up in her grasp, a shimmering ball of golden energy that wrapped in and around itself in a beautiful embrace. It shot towards the ceiling for a quick second before a golden shimmer rained down around them. It was a small trick of her mutation, something she could show him without making him fear what she was really capable of. Amber couldn’t who him that the same energy that made the world glow around them could blast a door off its hinges or toss a full grown man off his ass. That was a side to her mutation that she withheld with great caution.
“I, uh, I should leave”, she told him politely after a few long minutes. She didn’t want to put him at a discomfort and she didn’t want to be the object of a witch hunt if he deemed her a monster. Amber didn’t really care about the rain, she’d risk the storm if she had to. Still, there was a small moment that she waited, a second that she used to draw the shimmering energy back to her chest with a graceful wave of her palm.

Amber Adler.
Amber nodded with an appreciative smile, she was slowly feeling the cold of the rain set over her slim shoulders and she had to keep from shivering in the slightest. Her fingers reached out for the towel and drew it to her where she wrapped it’s edges over her shoulders with a soft sigh. For a brief second she truly regretted leaving the school behind for some impulsive inner peace mission but she knew in her heart she’d brave every storm known to mankind if it means she could feel strong again. If she knew she could feel like a warrior again. Not someone numbly held together in light of past betrayals but someone who was genuinely and earnestly reborn into a better version of herself.
At his words she couldn’t help but nod at the question, stranded sounded so desperate but it perfectly summed up her unusual predicament. There was a paranoid suspicion that it might not be safe to trust a stranger she only just meant but she didn’t exactly have another option. Besides, she was certain she could hand him his ass in a second flat unless he turned out to be another mutant. She doubted it though, which also lit up the problem in her mind that her mutation had a very physical form that often drew scepticism from humans and if he was indeed not like her, she had to spend her time around him hiding who she was. It was a risk she had to take, unless she dared to brave the storm for a lonely dirt road in the middle of nowhere.
“Thank you”, she told him simply and drew the towel from her shoulders to dry out the tips of her dripping auburn locks. “I’m starving actually”, it was a soft confession followed by a simple chuckle, for someone who had excellent strategy in battle, she was often very forgetful on trips. It’s the one reason she forgot to take any snacks with her and only realized the fact when she realized just how lost she was in a space where there weren’t much of anything in sight, least of all a place to get something she could eat.
Her chin lifted in a quick glance at the stairs before looking back at him with a charming grin, something that only radiated her beauty more than the simple natural grace that enveloped her person. “Something dry would be nice”, it was words meant more to herself than to him. “Thank you Corbin”, his name rolled off her tongue with ease and she found herself exploring the home with a simple task in mind. Amber took a quick left only to discover it was the bathroom but on her second attempt she managed to find a closet with awfully bright sundresses. Her fingers reached out to caress the soft fabric with her fingertips before taking hold of a bright yellow dress with white flowers engraved at the midline.
Amber shut the door and quickly took off the annoying weight of her wet clothes before using the towel to dry her flesh from the rain’s touch. She took the moment to release some of her built up energy, it drifted off her flesh in a soft golden hue and dissipated before she slipped the dress over her slender figure. It wasn’t a perfect fit, it didn’t look very good either but it was dry and that in itself was a drastic change that left her far more comfortable.
Amber hung her wet clothes over the bath tub and slowly made her way back downstairs in search of Corbin. She watched him closely in the kitchen before speaking up, “Anything I can help with?”. She wasn’t sure what he was planning for dinner but she wasn’t the type of person who could really sit still. So she waited patiently as she tucked a damn strand of hair behind her ear with a soft smile atop her lips.

Amber smiled at the stranger with a subtle charm, she half expected to see more people on a farm but he was the first person she’d spotted in quite a distance. Besides, the day wasn’t holding out for her and the sun was slowly inching past the horizon. With nothing much between her car and the stranger’s farm, she didn’t exactly have a variety of options. He was her life jacket in one mess of an unfortunate storm so to speak and Amber was very aware of the fact. There was no denying that the southern accent rolling off his tongue was decidedly attractive to her, she wondered if she could just outright request help with her car problems in fear he might reject the notion and leave her stranded in the middle of nowhere.
She repeated his name in her mind, hopeful that it wouldn’t somehow slip her mind. She doubted it though, she was known for her intelligence but the day felt so chaotic that she doubted herself in the slightest. Nevertheless, she deemed it only fair to introduce herself as well. “Amber”, she didn’t see the need in divulging more than her name as a simple identification. She wanted to get lost in order to find herself again and admitting who she was felt like a slight betrayal to the idea itself. “My car, it broke down and I’m sort of stranded”, she offered a simple, honest explanation of her troubles with a slight shrug and a small gesture towards the dirt road she’d travelled on even though it wasn’t in her sights anymore. She had to keep herself from rolling her eyes for just a second before she spoke, “I said, my car broke down. I’m hoping you could help a stranger out”, she offered another small smile.
Her eyes felt irritated at the annoying contact lenses she’d bought especially for the trip. The world had grown all the more worried about the mutant population and while her golden irises were perfectly acceptable at the school, she didn’t need to draw attention to them in the wrong company. It bothered her to see herself so subtly different and look like a stranger all the same, it was a part of her as much as her mutation and she was forced to hide it for the sake of a safe trip of self-exploration.
Her gaze shot upwards to the sudden grey clouds rolling in over the horizon with a deep, thunderous introduction. While she had a known love for stormy weather, it was just another obstacle in her travels or perhaps a drive to her destiny. She didn’t pay the idea much thought as the sky opened up in a sudden flood. Amber hardly heard him over the thunderous rumbles of the stormy weather but she was honestly caught off guard by how much she appreciated the cool embrace of the rain. It took her a minute to embrace the storm before she followed his advice and stepped inside the farm house. Amber wasn’t sure if it was appropriate but she stepped further inside his home with a curious eye while he dealt with the horse he’d mentioned. Amber almost wanted to help him but she decided against the thought and waited patiently instead.
Amber instantly turned around when she heard a small creak that gave way to his entrance into the home and found herself turning to glance at Corbin. She visibly tried to conceal a laugh at the sight of his shoes and pants, there was no denying the accompanying smell. “I take it things didn’t quite go as planned?”, she asked him with a humorous hint to her gaze. Amber couldn’t begin imagining how terrible she must have looked with the rain soaked into her auburn hair and leaving her clothes undeniably hugging her athletic figure.
“I suppose there’s no use trying to fix a car in a storm”, she muttered annoyed at the circumstances. She was stranded in the middle of nowhere with farms far and wide apart. There wasn’t exactly a town close by and night was quickly approaching. Amber honestly didn’t know where the day would take her, she’d be lucky if the stranger was kind enough to offer her shelter until the storm passed over. Still, she was too proud to ask for that much help from someone who didn’t know her more than a few minutes. She could feel the frustration of her mind grow beg for outlet in the form of her mutation but she couldn’t let it happen in front of someone who could very well harbour hate for her kind. She turned away from him hoping to hide the slight luminescent glow of her eyes as she took a deep breath to steady herself, there was no use getting killed for her mutation in the first few days of her trip to inner peace.

Amber was adaptable to the world around her, something she wished she could portray in her current situation of misfortune. She’d taken leave from the school for a small bit, she’d started to feel trapped and in search for something to awaken the raw energy inside of her begging release she embarked on a small trip of self-revelation. Somehow she’d lost track of time and her destination all in one fleeting moment and before she knew it, she was lost to dirt roads between old farms with no soul in sight. Smoke rolled off her engine as she stepped up to truly grasp the damage and while she was an excellent warrior of sorts, cars and engines were not exactly within her field of capabilities. She sighed softly feeling useless as she stared at the smoking engine, her fingers curled as she felt the energy shift into a golden hue on her fingertips out of frustration.
She didn’t exactly fear much in that moment except the relentless heat rolling off her exposed shoulders. The shirt she wore reached over her shoulders in thin, intricate straps before the white fabric disappeared into a pair of dark, fitted jean shorts resting over her delicate figure. Amber glared at the car before locking the doors and quickly made her way down the bland stretch of road.. Still, she soldiered on in the hopes of finding some old farmer who’d be kind enough to offer her assistance to get to wherever the road led next. She didn’t exactly leave the school with much to go on except a promise that she’d go back when she rediscovered herself.
She suspected an unfortunate encounter with a ghost of her past was the very thing that left her in an uncomfortable place where regret and fear ruled in a fierce battle for control. It didn’t take long before she stumbled upon an old rusty gate, one look at the pad lock sealing it from unwanted visitors left her with a charming grin coated in light mischief as her fingers rippled to life with a golden energy. One flick of her wrist tore the small chain apart and she spared the horizon a brief glance to make sure no one had spotted her small trick before she followed the dirt road.
She was thankful when she finally spotted a stranger, a handsome one at that, wrapped in baggy overalls. Amber waved politely before finally closing the distance and offering a charming smile hoping he’d be useful in her misfortune. There was always the chance that he was a danger to her but she was confident enough that she could hold her own against mutant and human alike that the fear never truly took roots.
“I’m sorry for trespassing”, she offered a casual gesture in the general direction of the gate she’d entered through before tucking her hair, wild from the breeze, behind her ear. “I’m looking for the owner of the house”, by the misfit of the overalls she somewhat assumed he was a farm hand or something alike. Still, she spoke with a charming confidence and a beautiful smile hoping to get some aid that’ll get her farther in a journey with no real destination in mind. Simply a goal, one she truly intended to achieve.

POWER: Energy absorption and conversion with enhanced combat abilities.
STRENGTHS:. - Increased agility and combat ability in a physical confrontation by directing her own energy in such a way that it benefits her strength, agility and speed albeit not by excessive amounts. - Energy absorption from sources in the environment or mutant powers
- Energy conversion and manipulation in her favor, either for offensive or defensive uses. -Conversion of energy can either be used for offensive attacks or rejuvenation of her own energy. -Amber mostly relies on converting her own kinetic energy for a wide variety of uses, e.g. small aesthetic tricks like creating a golden shimmer in the air, able to convert it into an offensive attack via energy expulsion in whatever pliable form that fits the occasion, creating a protective shield, etc.
WEAKNESS: - She can only absorb the energy up to beta mutant abilities i.e. if a mutant attacks her with pyrokinetic abilities, she's able to draw energy from the heated molecules and convert it for her own abilities. - Absorbing energy from Omega mutants can kill her as it's too much for her system to fully convert and the excess simply destroys her. - Absorbing a power does not allow her to use it in the same way, it can only be converted into a pure form of energy appearing as a golden hued variation of her own ability.
-Converting energy from mutant attacks decreases the initial damage it was intended with.

While she truly thrived in the medical field, Amber felt the need to guide those who were lost more than she felt the desire to heal broken flesh. For a brief while she offered refuge and guidance for mutants who ran from their homes in fear of prosecution. It didn’t take long for her family to shun her for her heroic acts when they didn’t understand the mutant gene.
She grew to love a man who wanted to give her the world but he ended up a reporter who nearly cost her her freedom. He was compassionate towards mutant for the sole cause to uncover a story for the newspaper he worked for. She managed to scare him off but she never loved another man again and her trust in others was broken beyond repair. She seemed lost herself, losing touch with her day job and nearly being discovered by the government for aiding a fugitive until being offered a position at Xavier's School for gifted youngster.
She grew to love the school with an unbroken dedication towards the students. Amber is a perfect example of a hero who would save those she cares for despite the cost of the selfless intentions.
