STRENGTHS: Gnaw can eat and digest anything. If he can get it into his stomach, then he can eat it. And getting things into his tummy is a lot easier than you might think: his jaw can disconnect and his mouth can open to disgusting proportions, much like a snake, allowing him to swallow very large objects... animals... or even people. He oesophagus is also quite elastic and tough compared to a human's, as is his stomach. He has two sets of additional teeth set back behind his front teeth and a third just past the entrance to his throat. These teeth are razor sharp and curved slightly to the rear, allowing him to shred his food, or to latch onto a pesky morsel trying to escape. His teeth and his palate in general are a lot stronger than a human's, allowing him to munch on tough substances without harm. Gnaw is pretty much immune to food born diseases, poisons, chemicals, acids and other toxins that he might ingest. This is due to the protective lining in his mouth, oesophagus and stomach, and the hyper-aggressive enzymes his digestive system produces.
WEAKNESS: Similar to a snake, when Gnaw eats a large meal or if what he is trying to eat is particularly dense (e.g. metals) he becomes sluggish and drowsy. The bigger, denser, the meal, the more lethargic he becomes and the longer he will feel that way, up to the point where he might just curl up somewhere and sleep for a week while he digests. Aggressize enzymes, acids, and scary strong muscles within his chest and stomach cavity allow Gnaw to compress some suprisingly large meals, however even he has limits. As a result, when he really pigs out, his belly will distend. As he digests, his fat tummy will slowly revert to a normal appearance.

OVERALL: Gnaw is a skinny kid with a devilish smile. His nose is bent, slightly to the right, the result of it not being set properly when he broke it as a kid. He would say it gives him a roguish look. His hair is almost invariably in a state of disarray. He can usually be found wearing an old pair of Converse high-tops, ripped skinny jeans, and a graphic tee.

OVERALL: Gnaw is the fun guy. He is the first to crank up the music and start dancing and the last to leave the party. Of course he might also set the house on fire, jsut to see what will happen. He is a fearless extrovert who loves making friends with just about anybody. He will talk your ear off... but he might just end up chewing off your ear, literally, because he is a cannibal. He is however loyal to his friends and family, almost to a fault.

Gnaw's arrival into the world was a scene of horror. His mother and father had gone to the hospital soon after she began going into labour. Everything seemed to be just fine, and the maternity ward settled in for another happy birthing. Except an hour after their arrival Gnaw decided that he was ready to come out, and his did just that, eating his way out of his mother's stomach. He ate a good portion of his mother, and took a bite out of the arm of one of the nurses as well, before the voracious infant was restrained. His father never did stick around to deal with the aftermath.
Gavin Sinclaire saw a story about the macabre event on the news. The circus man and his troop did not waste much time, and while the state tried to figure out what they were going to do with a ravenous cannibalistic infant, they kidnapped the mutant baby. Gavin brought up the kid as if he were his own flesh and blood. For all Gnaw know, he is Gavin's son, he even bears his dad's last name. And while he was given the name Joseph.. no one calls him that, ever since he was caught chewing on a piece of metal pipe (hey he was teething), he has been called Gnaw.
Gnaw had a pretty fucked up childhood. Lets face it, growing up in a mutant circus with a... less than altruistic father figure is not exactly normal. As a result, Gnaw has a somewhat flexible sense of right and wrong. His upbringing has also meant that he has had limited experience with the world outside the circus.
Currently he continues work for his father's circus as a performer... as part of the "clean-up" crew.
