Brick sat quietly in his apartment. The news had hit him pretty hard, though he couldn't believe it. His dad died. Eddie had never been particularly close with the old man. Not since he was a kid. When he was a kid they were pretty close actually. He lived for his father's approval, but as he got older that approval turned sour. Eddie's father didn't like the choices he made. Joining the fools for one thing. It was just something that put a wedge between them. Eddie's father cut him off, cut ties completely rather he focus his attention on his other son, who wasn't a criminal. It hurt Eddie. It really did, but Eddie mad crazy cash as a fool and he was just drawn to the lifestyle. It was just too much fun.
Still, his dad died and now he would never get a chance to make up with the old man. Eddie put the phone down on the coffee table and just stared at it. Clasping his hands together in front of his mouth and just staring at his phone Eddie seemed to be holding his breath. Like staring at his phone would make the news somehow not true. Tears started to spill into his eyes. The fire in the fireplace roared and sent light bouncing around his fabulous apartment. it was the kind of place only the super rich would live. It was high end and fancy and it didn't mean shit. Eddie slowly stood up. The sword on the table yawned having just woken up from a nap. Mickey Wilson a former fool, now full time cutlery could sense something was wrong. "What's up Eddie?" The sword asked him. Eddie didn't say shit.
Standing from his couch Eddie flipped the coffee table. He picked up the phone and threw it through his plasma screen TV. "Holy shit Eddie! Calm down!" Eddie was wearing a blue denim shirt and jeans, with untied work boots on his feet. His hefty work boot went right through the glass table. He punched several holes in the wall and seemed to be on a mission to destroy his life of luxery. This was the shit that he chose over his father. Material shit, that he didn't care about now that his father was gone. They had gone so long without talking and now he would never have a chance to tell his dad what he thought most of the time. That he missed him. Fuck.
Eddie's hands were bleeding from going through the drywall. "I need to clear my fucking head!" Eddie declared to the empty room and the sword. Grabbing his jacket he slammed the door leaving Mickey on the table. The funny thing about Mickey was he was always opposed to killing for the fools. Eddie was not. And now that his soul lived in Eddie's sword Mickey did MOST of the killing for the fools. Together they had one of the highest body counts. Eddie wasn't a psychopath... It was business. Sometimes assholes just have to die. He didn't loose no sleep over it. He wouldn't be sleeping tonight.
Stepping out into the cold night air Eddie walked down the apartment steps and headed for the bottom. Sitting on the bottom step he fished in his pocket for a joint. Harper was supposed to be coming over. He had already forgot about his plans. He couldn't think of shit when his world was turned upside down. Headlights faded as the sound of an engine dying vaugley reached his ears. Footsteps and a soft hand on his shoulder. Was he crying? Yeah, he was crying. Eddie looked up to see Harper's face. She was beautiful. She was the reason he fell in with the fools in the first place. He wanted to get to know her better. He would have done anything to get close to her, and now....Fuck. Now what did he have to show for it? He hadn't even made a move on her yet. Scared of fucking up his chances it seems he lost his father for nothing.

It’s a damn cold night
trying to figure out this life
Life since being with the Fool’s has always been interesting. It kept you busy and on your toes from rivals, to people just wanting to be friends with the “cool kids.” Though Harper never encouraged people to be her friends. She felt better being alone, though it was usually the wrong choice in the end. She could never truly be on her own. Her mind was too much of a mental torture chamber when it was too quiet. The old and faded track marks on her arms were enough to confirm that.
For the last seven or so years she’s had to live in Queenie’s home with the other dancers. Most of them had been supportive, helping her steer clear of clients that would tempt her into falling into old terrible habits. Others had grown jealous because of her quick learning skills on the pole. It wasn’t her fault she had nothing better to do than to practice when she was first brought in.
However, things had changed. She grew closer to people, one in particular had gained her attention. Eddie was always a blast to be with. She couldn’t pinpoint why, but she felt she could really be herself with him. He was there for her in a way that felt more than friendly. For the longest time, she thought maybe he’d make a move. But maybe he never would. She’d read signals like his before and the guy had laughed in her face when she had thought it was going to be more than friendship. So she was being cautious.
The road from the Pink Zebra was quiet as Harper drove. Her mind was far from anything other than wondering what Eddie had planned for their night of fun. ‘Maybe...maybe he’ll finally make a move…’ Her thought was hopeful as she pulled into the lot of the apartments. Turning everything off she fixed up her make up some. ‘God...I hope he makes a move.’ Getting out she made her way over towards the entryway only to see Brick standing there.
A smile graced her lips as she reached out and gently touched his shoulder. Before she said anything though, her smile faded. Her blue eyes took in Bricks features, the tears staining down his cheeks and her heart dropped. “Hey, what happened?” Her voice was soft as she asked. Moving around to be right in front of him to see him better, her hands cupping his bearded jaw. The pads of her thumbs lightly brushed away the tears that turned her stomach into knots. Looking over him more she saw the bloody knuckles and frowned a bit.
Whatever had happened had him upset, she had never seen a guy cry before. But Eddie? It tore her apart. Taking his hand in hers, she lead him to her car. “Get in, we’re going to have some fun tonight.” She’d take him to a place where she always let out her aggressions. A place where smashing things was actually something you could do without getting in trouble for it.

Eddie was so wrapped up in his own misery that at first he didn't realize the headlights were for him. Harper stood in front of him holding him and asking him what was wrong but he only stared out into space. Slowly, but surely his eyes focused to meet her gaze. She looked worried. She should be. He was on the verge of taking his rage into the city and doing something boundlessly stupid. Her soft voice calmed him back down as the tears dried away. He had never cried in front of anyone before, least of all her. Eddie wasn't the type to show emotions. He was more the type to joke away his pain with false laughter and happy spirits.
All in all, Eddie was pretty well adjusted. He partied just like any other fool, but it didn't mean he didn't have his shit together. He knew when to reign it in. Eddie was always the guy with a smile on his lips. Well, okay a smirk. He had more humor than most of the fools and when things got fucking tense he was always the comic relief. It was the reason old Mickey Blue eyes and him got along so well. Micky had an aversion to violence. He just didn't think the Fools needed to be violent to be successful. Mickey caught a lot of shit for that. Now, Mickey was a fucking sword and Brick was all alone. Except for Harper. Mickey was his best friend and yeah, Mickey was technically still there but you couldn't share a beer with a katana.
Eddie felt like his world was shrinking. Like everyone he cared about was slowly slipping through the cracks. He didn't even realize how much he meant to Harper. There was that one night when they were both drunk as all hell. Eddie had tried to kiss her and she drunkenly pushed him off. She didn't remember. Eddie did. He took it as a sign that he was permanently parked in the friend zone. It wasn't so bad. Besides Mickey she was his best friend. And if he was being honest maybe she edged Mickey out just a little bit because of the whole being in love thing, but she was never one of the guys. He never truly let her into his heart because he was afraid of getting it broken. He was afraid he would offer her everything and she would use it to shatter him.
Eddie never had any reason to believe that but fear and doubt can make you puss out. He barely heard her when she said she was taking him somewhere. He sure as fuck didn't hear where. He just knew he was sitting in the passenger seat of her car now. Staring at the dashboard and at his blood hands. Eddie was silent until that moment. The car started and she began to back up. When he spoke. "My dad died. Heart attack. Just like that...." He said staring at the dashboard. He didn't bother to look up, not because he was ashamed or because the dashboard was the most interesting thing in the world but because he didn't have the strength to meet her gaze and let her seem him break one more time. She was all he had left and he wanted to not appear broken to her. Some lost cause that she would cast out of her life because it was to much work to fix.
Of course that wasn't true. Eddie knew that somewhere in the back of his head, but his father's death had him all fucked up. It had him questioning things he didn't even need to question. Loyalty for one. Reaching over he placed a hand on her knee. It wasn't a move. He didn't have that in him at the moment but he was searching for her hand in the dark. He thought maybe the touch of something good might sooth him. The squeeze of something not as fucked up as him might help him manage. "I'm a fucking Mess Harpie." He said quietly. Squeezing her hand he found the light squeeze back against his fingers. Slowly turning his head he looked at her. He felt so alone against the world. The fool's dice logo didn't bring him any comfort of family when real family died. It should have but it didn't. Harper brought him comfort. She was like family to him. Without thinking he leaned in and kissed her lips. They had been parked at a stop light and his mind kept saying one thing over and over..... You let pops die before you told him how you felt. You can't let the same thing happen twice.

It’s a damn cold night
trying to figure out this life
Harper sat there in the car for a moment as she took in everything. His dad died… that was definitely a reason to cry. Her dad had left when she was little and she cried for days. "I'm so sorry. I can only imagine what that's like." But...she felt doubt. Was she the person to really comfort him the way he needed? Her mind had drifted some as she drove down the streets. It was as if she was on autopilot.
No one in the Fools knew her past. Well, except the drugs and prostitution. Otherwise, she was the world's best kept secret. It was the one way to keep her wounds from opening again and to keep people still at an arm's length. Taking a deep breath she let it out slow to keep herself calm. Tonight wasn't about her, or her worries. She had to find someway to make Eddie smile again.
Stopping at a red light she felt his hand on her knee. Either he was blindly searching for her hand or he was making the move she had been waiting a long time for. But she didn't want to just be some warm body of comfort for a night. When his hand moved and found hers she squeezed his fingers lightly. Her heart was pounding in her ears hearing him admit in some way how he was feeling.
Her head turned towards Eddie and her eyes widened feeling his lips against hers. She had frozen for a moment. Almost as if her brain had malfunctioned. Her breathing hitched before she relaxed into it. Kissing back she pressed a bit closer. The kiss seemed to last a lifetime, and she wanted more. As she turned more, her foot slipped from the break and the car rolled forward before she quickly pulled away and reapplied pressure.
Gripping the wheel she gave a nervous laugh. “Shit...sorry.” She spoke quietly. The doubt started creeping in her mind that maybe he could only be looking for a warm body. Once she gives him that she could be tossed to the side, like a piece of trash. Tension rose within her as she drove, but now, it was probably better to head to someplace quiet. Just a few corners and blocks later they ended up at a park. Someplace she had always gone to when she had felt the most broken. She didn’t know if Eddie would think it was weird, but for the moment she didn’t care. It was a calming place that they could both relax and be undisturbed from the world. Hardly any teens or other people came here. It was like a little private place that she could be invisible, but exist at the same time. Just a little hidden oasis in the broken frame of her mind. “That kiss better mean we’re making things official.” She said with a sly smile before getting out of the car.

There was no way for Brick not to read into that kiss. HIs mind was a million different directions at once. The thoughts racing through his mind ranged from are you fucking crazy to that felt amazing. And even she tastes like candy. Brick eased back into his chair and some of the burden had been lifted off his chest. For a moment he forgot about the fact that his dad had died. For a while. That didn't matter.
Life was constantly rotating and rearranging priorities. The only thing on his mind was the cherry scented chap stick and the feel of her hand on his chest as they kissed. Brick was no ladies man. Not like the rest of the guys. He had a few serious not so serious relationships, but nothing that ever really mattered. He never understood why Harper had refused to hang out as much whenever Brick did have a girl.
He always assumed the attraction was one sided and like a dope he was blind enough to believe that. But here he was as they pulled up to the park and he wasn't sure what he believed anymore. Their friendship wasn't burning in a twisted wreckage. Things hadn't gotten awkward. Then she flat out told him what she wanted. Things to go to be official. Okay, so maybe they were awkward. What, that meant girlfriend? He was okay with that. Eddie wanted tonight to be special. A night that started out horrible was slowly forming into something that wasn't so bad.
He lost his father, but he had lost him a long time ago. Eddie was upset over the idea of a father more than his actual dad. They weren't even speaking. Closing the door as he got out Eddie walked over to the park where she sat. The swaying trees moved on the night breeze.
Sitting down on the slide Eddie allowed his hands to just dangle over the edges of his knees. He looked at her with quiet fascination. "I've dreamed about you saying that for a very long time." He admitted. Sitting there with a dopey smile stuck on his face. You couldn't pry it from his face with a crowbar. "You're the one Harpie. You always have been." He said. Pausing a moment to add....."You're my dream girl." He wasn't kidding or blowing smoke. She was everything he had ever wanted.
Moving forward and daring for one more kiss Eddie leaned forward and cupped his hand around her face. Taking her face into his palm Eddie's lips clashed into herself with soft force. They were alone in the world. Hidden away in this park and even if the world's eyes were on him he would have made the same move.
Knowing he was alone and knowing she felt the same way gave him the confidence to finally step up to the plate. This was it. This was what he gave up his family for... And you know what. He would do it again because he felt like he had found something once in a life time.

It’s a damn cold night
trying to figure out this life
Harper loved being at this park. Hell, she spent more sleepless nights here than in her own room. Here she didn’t feel suffocated with loneliness. Especially now with Eddie. She watched him as she tried her balance on the small metal balance beam in the ground. In some ways Harper was like a child, stuck in a 23 year old body. Though some of that could be due to the drug abuse and alcoholism she faced in her earlier years. Another part was being cut off from reality with repressed memories. If she where to grow up, that would mean she’d have to deal with said memories.
It was one reason she liked hanging around Eddie, he helped her forget the bad. His smile, his jokes, it always made her feel better when she felt she shouldn’t. But the doubts always resurfaced whenever something became a compliment. She couldn’t deal with them. Even something as far fetched as being the love of someone’s life. Her body froze as she listened to Brick speak. ‘He’s dreamed of this? Of me? He doesn’t even know that much about me…’ Her face dropped some to keep from showing the guilt on her face. That wasn’t his fault. It was her own.
She had always felt something for Brick, everytime they’re together her heart flutters and dances inside her chest. When he had another girl on his arm she distanced herself. She always did because she didn’t want her heartbroken again. Though really she’d only ever had terrible destructive relationships with men. It’s made her so scared of putting her heart out to the world. The only reason she did with Eddie now was of how clear he was making it with how he felt for her. However, her mind was a catalyst for ruin and self-sabotage.
Feeling a rough hand on her cheek she faced up and closed her eyes as she felt Brick’s lips on hers again. Her mind cleared of doubts and revelled in the feeling of being loved and wanted. Her hands braced her using his strong chest. After moments of dancing tongues and white knuckled grip she pulled away slowly. Her blue eyes batted some as she looked up. Everything seemed to be so small in comparison to right now. A soft, gentle smile formed as she leaned her head against his broad shoulder. “I’ve been waiting to hear that… for a long time. That’s all I’ve really done lately is waiting. For someone like you.”
“You’re the first thing I think about in the morning, and the last person I talk to before the night is over. I…” Her voice cracked as she was about to let out her feelings. It scared her that she could have these feelings for someone. But Eddie, he wasn’t just someone. He was special, at least to her he was. “I… I love you. More than anything.” She whispered, turning her head to hide her burning face. In some ways it was embarrassing, but she didn’t want to face the rejection if he didn’t say those three words back.

I love you. Those three words tumbled around his skull like a tsunami of thought and persuasion. The only reason he was still standing was because somewhere in the fog he had backed up against a brick wall. The side of a building that had led to a men's room and a women's room off to the side a little ways. They had messed around and been up and down the park. Brick was never one for flashy shows of emotion. Then again it was hard being a member of the club to be openly sentimental.
He didn't want the boys of the club to consider him soft, and though he wasn't he had never openly told Harper how he felt about her until this moment. He didn't know what the hell he had been waiting for. Now, he felt like there was a huge pressure of his chest for the first time in years, but it came right back when she said those three little words. She.... Loves me? He thought quietly.
Brick said very little. His hands were somehow stuffed into the pockets of his jacket. He remembered looking for his smokes sometime after they kissed, but years seemed to have passed from the time that she said she loved him to this moment of quiet reflection and self discovery. He looked up at her. "I love you too!" He finally said. He wasn't quietly searching his heart to see if it were true, he was quietly contemplating all the time he had wasted being scared to own up to his own feelings. His father had died and he could have met Harper.
He could have brought her home to his family as a way to break the ice. His dad was a cool old man. He would have understood in the end if he took him and said that he joined the fools because of a girl. His father was just an understanding man that way, and though Brick never had the balls to do that either; his father would have ultimately accepted her. They could have reconciled and he could have had the best of both worlds sitting firmly in the palm of his hand. But Brick didn't do that. And he would never know what he truly missed out on.
Afraid of nothing and afraid of living at the same time it wasn't until here. Right now in this moment that he truly began to live. "I'm sorry I waited so long." He admitted. A light blush to his cheeks told her that he was foolish to keep this to himself.
Brick brushed past the water fountain on his way back over to her. She was only steps away, but she felt miles apart. He embraced her and cupped his hands against her face again and delievered a kiss that tried to make up for all the lost years. He put into it the passion and longing he had felt for all this time unrecipricated. He didn't even realize it but he was scooping her up. Still locked within her lips and carrying her over to a picnic table under a little gazeebo.
"You're all I ever wanted for so long. I was so lost...." He tried to tell her between kisses. Each time he broke their touch he uttered a few more scoldings of how he should have never waited and taking deep breaths. She left his breathless and he had to remind himself to breath. He breathed in her scent. The smell of cherry in her hair and the soft soap that fragrenced her skin. His fingertips were on fire as they traveled over the softness of her ribs. Riding up her shirt and pulling eagerly at the trim of her shorts.

Harper stood there in suspense as she watched Eddie. His silence was a slow ticking bomb in her conscious mind. If he didn’t say those words back, she’d feel so stupid opening up that quickly. But it only took a few moments before he said them back. She could feel the itch of tears behind her eyes. Her heart bursting from her chest as she gave a huge genuine smile.
Every time she was with Eddie, her smiles where always genuine, but never as big as this one was. She was so overwhelmed with joy that it spilled over out of her eyes. Though deep down she knew he wouldn’t have strung her along. He wasn’t that kind of guy, not with her. She was just so happy to hear those words from him. He could say it every day, all day, until they died and she would never get tired of it.
“Yeah, you really know how to leave a girl in suspense.” She chuckled as she brushed away the tears. Though thankfully her makeup didn’t run down her cheeks with them. Taking a deep breath she again melted into Eddie’s warm lips. She gave a giggley squeal as she was lifted and wrapped her arms and legs around his body. Her fingers massaged the back of his head as they combed through his hair.
Between kisses she caught her breath, just to have it stolen away again. “We can be lost together now.” Was all she could say. He was saying how he regretted not doing anything earlier, but now wasn’t the time for negativity. “Hey, don’t be so hard on yourself. It was worth the wait. You were worth the wait.” Her voice was soft as she leaned in to speak into his ear. “Now make me yours, completely.” Her slender hands moved down his neck to under his leather jacket, sliding it down over those amazingly muscled arms.

Tag Words You have two seconds to talk before i cut your tongue out. I'll sit it on my desk and use it to seal envelopes. I'll use it to seal the envelope i send your mother with your rotting tongue inside..... NOW TALK! Diablos The life of a criminal wasn't all it was cracked up to be. It had it's ebbs and flows, but mostly he was doing it for his family. La Familia. That was all that mattered. The bond of brotherhood wasn't the only reason that kept him wearing the smiling devil on the back of his leather jacket. Javier was a traditionalist. He believed in community and the Mexicano community was vibrant. The Diablos were family too.
He would bleed for them and give up his life to save a brother. Then again who wouldn't when you felt this way? Driving along the parkway he was honestly just minding his own business. He wasn't out looking for trouble until he saw a couple of Fool's Dice assholes on the wrong side of town. It wasn't Diablo's turf persay but they were near his neighborhood. That alone was enough justification for what came next.
Javier rolled down the window and stuck a hand cannon out of it. Driving slow he emptied the clip before pealing off into the darkness. Fuck those guys. The Fools were slowly falling apart at the seems anyways. It was only a matter of time before Diablos pushed them out for good. Cross a few more off the list. Javier didn't see if he got both of them but he definatly saw one of them fall as he sped off back towards the Diablos's clubhouse. Tires screeching into the night. template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0

Just when things were pulling into focus the worst thing happened. Eddie felt two rounds enter his shoulder and collapsed to the floor. The second the gunshots started blicking off Eddie threw himself in front of Harper. Doing his best to use his body as s shield. Well, it worked.
The bullets that would have hit her, hit him instead. Eddie could hear the distant wail of tires burning rubber and peeling off into the night, but everything seemed jumbled. He coughed up blood that spilled over the side of his face in fine streaks. The clouds in the sky covering the moon were quite pretty. He had never really taking the time to look at them.
Eddie blinked a few times as the cold wet ground met his neck. He couldn't tell if he was wet from the grass or wet from the blood soaking his shirt. Perhaps it was both. His hands fumbled, smearing blood around Harper's shirt as he pulled her close. He turnedh is head to her eyes in a panic. He had to see for himself that she was okay.
"Are you...?" He coughed up more blood, almost choked on it. He was going to die. Really, he was dying and bleeding out fast. He had to turn his face away from Harper. Looking in that direction made him cough up too much blood and it was already too hard to catch his breath with a punctured lung.
His free hand fumbled around the grass. It was fruitlessly hopeless. But he felt something on his hand. Crawling across his skin. A grasshopper. It rubbed it's little legs together and Eddie knew it wasn't ideal but it was something. His body began to glow a faint yellowish color and so did the little grasshopper. As he transfered his soul out of his dying body and into the little bug.
Brick the person was dead. At least, clinically dead. His body might be saved if he was brought to a healer. Of which the Fools actually had one. For now though... He was a cricket. A dirty ass cricket on what was moments ago the best night of his life and now it had turned to shit in a blender. Cricket Eddie: Fuck!
