If he calls you up, you gonna take him back?
I said hell no, oh hell no
Moving to Detroit had been the best thing that ever happened for Shay. Mostly because of the party scene that she could get herself lost in. Honestly, it was a miracle that she hadn’t died of alcohol poisoning at all. Then again, she already knew where she’d end up. The InBetween was not a kind place for those that wandered without a destination. It left them with more questions than answers, and made them great at eavesdropping on conversations. It’s how Shay actually made her money.
People didn’t know she could actually speak to the dead, hell most of them thought it was a gimmick until she answered with things that not everyone knew about their loved ones. The extra money has helped her get through college and for the most part pay for her nights out on the town. Though it wasn’t spread all over the dormitory. Thank God for that. So many times Shay had come out drunk out of her mind to lessen the voices and visions of barely there figures. Tonight was another of those nights. Though tonight she had finally broken down the spirit...uh convinced her friend and roommate Megan to go out and dance the night away.
She promised her they would leave when she wanted, but the whole time her fingers were crossed behind her back. Shay dragged her out in a sexy clubbing outfit and out to the Diamond room. Upon arrival she hadn’t really expected her friend to be caught by some bad boys eyes. It was honestly kind of funny. Not that Megan wasn’t beautiful. The whole package with great family and wholesome values because of her upbringing. No, it was funny because he didn’t know what he was in for. It had taken Shay months to get Megan convinced enough to finally come out. No way in hell he’d get her attention in one night.
Skipping the line was a nice little impression as she and their friends got drinks. Though Shay wasn’t really one to go light on the alcohol. She didn’t bother with sipping, she downed them as if they were glasses of water. Getting through her third drink she decided she wanted to dance and pulled Megan to the floor. Her arms raised as she swayed and bounced with the music. She only stopped when someone tapped her shoulder asking to step in with her friend. A slight smirk took hold of her as she let her brown eyes fall on them for a moment and then laughed. She couldn’t help it.
Though that's when she felt a cold chill down her back. Goosebumps rose on arms, her hair stood on end and she couldn’t help but start looking around. Spotting the reason for her chill she went back to the table and downed another drink. Going back to dance she tried to forget the lost soul wandering the crowd. More time went by with her dancing with different guys and drinking more. Her head was spinning, her body was hot, and the colors were bleeding together. Stumbling more than dancing she made her way to the bathrooms. Shay hadn’t expected though to run into two men. “Hey, you alright?” One asked getting closer, though what Shay couldn’t see was the smirk on his face.
The two almost boxed her in, one on either side. She looked them over for a moment before stumbling back into a wall. “I-I’m fine. Move allong.” Her words slurred terribly as she tried to stand straight.
