Born amongst the cotton fields and longleaf pines of Central Mississippi, Cameron Howe (born Catherine Eleanor Howe; Cameron is actually her father's name; she likes the name a whole helluva lot better than Catherine) was borne of a rebellious streak well-known amongst residents of the Golden Triangle region and something her parents tried (and failed) to keep in check. Unlike many of her female contemporaries, Cameron preferred playing with chemistry sets, model rockets, model airplanes and robotics kits instead of with dolls and dollhouses, coming close a few times to either blowing up her parents house (or burning it down, depending on the circumstances!)



Pretty soon, she was spotted as a genius with robotics and drone technologies by the U.S. government, who offered her - at the age of 19, mind you - the opportunity to work for Homeland Security, developing new robotics and drone systems for civilian and military use. The work was great, the pay was excellent, the travel benefits more so...eventually, as the U.S. government began to put more and more resources into tracking the country's mutant population, Cameron - who was beginning to grow disillusioned with the government's tactics - volunteered to go from DHS work to working for GADEM in 2012.

It was during this time that she - along with robotics technicians at the secretive Joint Forces Station China Lake in California - led the effort to develop the Sentinels, robotic spider-like machines that can search for and capture mutants without active human assistance. Unfortunately, Cameron began to have Snowden-like doubts about her job and about the U.S. Government's position on mutants, doubts that are beginning to nudge their way into her life...with a vengeance.
